PCYC Indigenous Programs Team has welcomed the support of Rugby League legend Petero Civoniceva through a series of Indigenous Community Sport and Recreation Program initiatives delivered across Queensland.
Another of Petero’s ambassador roles for PCYC is “Catch Me If You Can”. A touch football mentoring program for Indigenous youth in partnership with the Queensland Police Service.
PCYC is a vehicle for positive community engagement between police officers and young people using sport and recreation as a common language!
“The relationship building was made easier with Petero’s support and encouragement of the police and indigenous cultures in coming together. It was a great opportunity for the all those involved to engage with Petero.”
“Travelling to locations such as Doomadgee, Aurukun, Woorabinda, Cairns, Cherbourg and Logan, Petero was there to mentor through positive engagement, sighting future direction and inspiration, and to share his love of football to the youth, who are the developing future leaders of their communities.”
